Actually this blog post is useful for those who are going into final year in next few months. Guys, Start preparing your Resume as early as possible. I was editing my resume until the day before my interview day. Don’t ever do this . You must be ready with your final resume on or before the day when your will apply for the job online. Lets discuss some useful resume writing tips to make it effective.
1.Create email ID:
Create personal email ID which must have your name and surname. It may not include any digits or your nick names. You may use symbols underscore( _ ) and dot( . ) .Now you will say , someone else with same name as yours has already registered this type of mail on Gmail and now they are offering to add digits. But guys Gmail is not one and only providing email services. There are many such as Yahoo, Microsoft etc. Search on the Internet and get your own email as early as possible before anyone would take it from that site.
2.How to write great Personal Statement?
A personal statement, sometimes called a professional profile or career summary or Career Objective, is sort of like your elevator pitch. It should describe your best attributes and accomplishments in a few lines, and basically give the hiring manager a quick look at why your resume is worth their time.
• Keywords and Buzz words :
While it’s advisable to use industry and job-specific keywords in your resume to help it stand out, it’s important to understand the difference between keywords that relate to the job you are applying for and meaningless buzzwords. The problem with using the same buzzwords that everyone else uses is that rather than making you stand out, they make your resume seem generic. So the trick here is not to eliminate all buzzwords and keywords from your resume, but to work them into your job descriptions and personal statement or professional summary in such a way that they actually add value. For instance, it would be fine to say that you are creative or have good communication skills, but without any examples of why this is the case, these words are meaningless.

3. Adding Hyperlinks:
Including hyperlinks to your online profiles, websites or work shows initiative. If you want to showcase work that is relevant to the job, such as writing samples, websites you have created or other projects that demonstrate your expertise, it’s a good idea to have everything easily accessible in one place, such as your LinkedIn profile or a personal blog or website or link of your YouTube channel (if any).
4. Avoid Irrelevant Information:
Do not mention height, weight, marital status, ethnicity, religion or political affiliations . Salary expectations should never be included in your resume. You may include hobbies or personal interests that are relevant to the job.
5. Fonts and Layout:
Ideal resume should be maximum 2 pages.
Avoid the following:
• Oddly shaped paper • Tiny and elaborate fonts • Fancy borders • loud or mismatched color schemes.
Stick to:
• Use a standard A4 size • Decent layout and format • Left hand alignment • Photos & Signature to be right aligned • Font Size : Heading 14 and Text 12 • Font Style: Times New Roman or Arial • Font Color: Black • Italics should not be used • Use table for educational qualifications and project details • Proper spacing : 1.5”
