1. Measure 4L using given 3 buckets

Suppose you have 8L, 5L, and 3L bucket with you. The buckets have no measurement lines on them and you are asked to measure exactly 4L of water using three buckets. How would you do it?

Solution :

1. Fill the 8L tank full                 8  0  0
2. Pour the water from 8L buckets to 3L bucket :     3  5  0
3. Pour remaining water from 5L bucket to 3L bucket   3  2  3
4. Pour water from 3L bucket to 8L bucket         6  2  0
5. Pour water from 5L to 3L bucket            6  0  2
6. Pour water from 8L to 5L bucket           1  5  2
7. Pour water from 5L to 3L bucket           1  4  3
8. So now we get 4L water in 5L bucket
